SILK SHEET

Çanakkale Silk Sheet is known to be woven in Çanakkale, especially in Ezine and other districts. It is a weaving that has been widely woven and used in settled places in the region for a long time due to the importance given to the dowry by the people living in Çanakkale and its districts. Since it is an important dowry item in the region, it is used to decorate the circumcision bed in circumcision feasts. It is one of the weavings not kept alive today. It is woven in striped plain weave, in which silk warp and weft are used in normal twisting. This weaving is among the ones woven by families who (were made) settled in the region before. It is especially made for the bride's dowry as a traditional custom. The weaves have a pattern with stripes/bars/paths. It is woven in natural color white silk, shades of yellow, green, and red. Çanakkale Silk Weave was used in the production of bed linen, drawstring, bundle, handkerchief, and shirt.
