Balıkesir Wool Weaving is a fabric woven by the Yoruks in the region and the Bulgarian immigrant families who came during the Russian War in 1878. It is woven in twill weave using two different colors of thread with wool material for warps and wefts in Balıkesir towns and villages. The pattern of the weaving is knits/plaids formed by lines. The weaving is woven in pieces with a width of 70-75 cm and a length of 350-400 cm. For the production of ihram/ehram, which is used instead of blankets in the region, two weavings are sewn in the middle to form a nearly square form. Balıkesir Wool Weaving is in red, dark blue, and navy colors. It was used as a cover, ihram/ehram/blanket in line with the daily needs of the local people. It is one of our weavings which is not produced today. Research needs to be done to revive it.
